Midtown has gone green. FreeFoods NYC is an upscale organic café and green caterer located at 18 West 45th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues) that holds a commitment to using organic, local and sustainable ingredients. Items are taken off the menu when the ingredients are no longer in season and therefore less readily available in organic form.
The seasonal menus are designed by Chef Matthew Kenney (formerly of Pure Food and Wine and Commune) and regularly feature a selection of entrée salads, gourmet market table items, pressed sandwiches, signature soups, homemade organic baked goods and exotic smoothies and juices. Meat options abound with regularly available duck, fish, beef and poultry dishes. However, the menu also features a variety of vegetarian, vegan and even daily raw options to please people with specific dietary concerns.
Roasted Portobello—With Macadamia-hummus, preserved lemon and artichoke on ciabatta
Key Lime Pie Smoothie—Pineapple, avocado, coconut water, lime and agave
Mint Chocolate Oreo
Duck Pastrami Rachel Reuben—Carrot sauerkraut, Gourmino Swiss and red chili Russian dressing on sourdough
Chopped Mexican Salad—With Red chili chips, avocado, black beans, jicama, chopped tomato and cilantro, white corn, Goat Gouda and tomato-chili dressing
Chipotle Spiced Sweet Potato Soup—With blue corn tortillas and lime cream
Food is fabulous. Sometimes the person taking the order needs help. A wonderful source of healthy, delicious food.

Waited over an hour and a half for delivery. When I called to check on my order, they blew me off. Very disappointed.

Unfortunately, Freefoods has the worst delivery service out of any of the restaurants I have ordered from on seamlessweb because their food is very good. Today my order took 2 hours and 4 minutes to be delivered; and this is not the first time I have waited so long. When I called to see if my food was on it's way, the phone line was busy for about 20 minutes. I understand there are some days that are busier than others, but at the very least I would expect a courtesy phone call to give me the option of ordering from a different restaurant if they are too backeed up to serve customers in a timely manner. So, if you are willing to possibly wait over 2 hours for your lunch, then my all means, please order. but if you're hungry, this is not the place to order from.

Love this place. It's great to have organic, vegan, and raw options available. The salads are a little too expensive for me, but whenever I'm a little hungry during work, I'll order a green juice. Awesome, healthy, and convenient.

Food is amazing and lots of variety for organic, vegetarian, vegan palates. Smoothies are great and unique, if a little overpriced. Delivery is usually quick and accurate, sometimes really busy at lunch for such a small place to handle.

Food is great but service is NOT! Placed an order for 12:45pm and received it over an HOUR early. When I called to complain they said that they send orders out early all the time when they are busy and no one complains. They didn't even apologize!

I am extremely disappointed with the service from Freefoods, especially the way in which the “management” staff handles complaints. Complaint #1: received delivery a day earlier than what was requested. Per management “people don’t normally order lunch at 10:45 in the morning for next day”. Well, Michael, you should let Seamlessweb know that you and your staff are not capable of handling future delivery dates. Complaint #2: Ordered coconut water and received a “pink” liquid. This happens twice. The coconut water was actually rancid! I called and again spoke to management and was told that no one else complained. He said that the coconut came from Thailand and that’s the color of their coconut water. Again, Michael is wrong. According to Produce Oasis (http://www.produceoasis.com/Items_folder/Fruits/young-coconuts.asp) you should Avoid drinking the water or eating the meat from a young coconut that is even slightly pink on the inside. And guess what, Michael admitted that the meat of the coconut is used in their other recipes. I rate Freefoods a Zero for customer service. They did not even apologize for their mistakes or for sending us drinks that has gone rancid! My entire office has crossed them off our restaurant’s list.

I ordered a soup and it had tons of oil.

The management at this chop shop is absolutely useless (including their 52nd st branch). used to work 1 street away and food took no less than 90 mins the couple of times I ordered. They don't keep their delivery guy's number so can never give an ETA. Refused to take a request to switch the bread on my sandwhich. Seems like a pretty basic customer service flaw to not accomodate a bread request. I could get over all of the above if they at least had the courtesy to be polite on the phone. No such luck

Took 2 hours to deliver. Were unapologetic. Will not order from here again.

usually good food but terrible customer service including delivery people who apparently don't possess troubleshooting skills

They were out of just about everything I tried to order

The peach bread was awful -- 3 very thin slices of peach on top and NONE in the bread itself which had no flavor at all.

Most times the meal lives up to the description. ie: lobster cobb, duck pastrami. blt. Sometimes, not so much. ie: toro

Food was quite tasty. But something described as a "pasta" dish was actually a soup, which lead to a disappointing (and not filling) meal. Be careful ordering!

The food is NOT worth the price you pay. I am all about organic but my egg white omelette (which by the way is 2$ extra) was nothing extraordinary. If I'm going to pay 8.50 for eggs and veggies, I want table service AND my food seasoned properly.

I ordered a slice of the raw/vegan pizza and it was extremely small. Probably not enough for anyone to eat for lunch. It tasted really good though. Delivery took about an hour although it was supposed to be 15-30 mins

Great food! Just make sure you have time to wait as they are always slow on the delivery... 1 sandwich can take 90+ minutes...

The WORST delivery service, EVER! I keep giving them a try because I like to eat organic food, but they keep screwing up the order. To top it off, they are perpetually late in delivering. It took them way over an hour to deliver, and the delivery guy couldn't even find my high rise apt building! Just skip delivery and go straight to FreeFoods to enjoy their food. It's not worth the hassle of delivery!

Delivery takes too long. Delivery guys do not wait for you. It's quite terrible.

I am so fed up with the service from FreeFoods. Granted they make ok food, but I can't stand having to wait for the delivery-guy for 5-10 minutes in the lobby of my building. This has happened to me on several occasions, and all the delivery guy, and management ever say is "we are sorry" -- well, that sorry does not reverse the time that I lose from my very time-sensitive work, while waiting for the delivery guy. I order food in precisely because I have tight time constraints, only to have to wait for their delivery guy who calls and says he is in the lobby when he's still a good 10 minutes away. I am very very fed up with the terrible service.

The food is great and definitely healthy. For the food I'd give them 5 stars, I gave them4 because they close early and NEVER answer their phone. Also, the prices for somethings seem expensive for no reason.

Reviews are accurate -- delivery is painfully slow. Mine took 1.5 hours. Food was good and creative, though portions are fairly small. I would order again, but probably better to pick up than have delivered.

I order my food at 11:34 am. It finally arrived at 1:34 pm. In addition, I order the South American salad, in which, the chicken was not cooked. The miso soup was decent. Will not order from this place again.
